well, i think you are right. but we could say that of every thing. we need more people doing higher level complexes, and not the same people farming them all over again. and we need more small alliances claiming 0.0 space, and not only 20 big alliances. well, what we don not need is more caldari, but that is a different topic.
but guess what, if i won a tech 2 bpo today, you now what would i do? yes, i would sell it, cause i dont have the resources to do anything with it. i would love to be able to research the bpo and start producing, but i lack the skills and the resources to do it. so even if i could get a bpo with my lousy 600 points, in the end it would still go to NAGA or whoever offered me the biggest sum.
and that is why some people got 15 or 20 tech 2 BPOs
in the end, what i am proposing is almost the same as the lottery, but you can choose where you want to invest your points, and how many.

I truely think it would be much more fun and rewarding if research agents gave "clues" to where in space they beleive a wreckage is that MIGHT have a bpo inside of it.
This would give people a REAL reason to explore eve with all the tools they have available.
Maybe IF they did find the wreckage there could be a massive NPC build up protecting it?
Perhaps the more RP points you have the fewer systems your agent will give you to search?
There would be so much possiblities with a system such as this, I truely dis-like all of this static RP points = XXXXXX chances of getting a bpo, this is space for crying out loud give us reasons to explore it.
yes, but you must have in mind that research skill arent the same as piloting or fighting skills. tell Dr C that from now on, if he wants to get a BPO he needs to go somewhere and fight lots of npcs, with his 1024 points on gunnery.
i dont think research should need any activity besides the research missions.
but i like your idea, although i would think it would be better only for BPCs, almost like complex now, but more dinamical. anyway, when they introduce reverse engineering, things will change a bit.
and again, about a few people having lots of tech 2 bpos, come on, this is a competition game. if they have the research points, why wouldnt they use them to get a bpo? should they just eat them?
Competitive game yes, and THATS why its unfair for one or two people to get bpos in this manner, because after they get it theres no way to kill them for it. unlike if someone builds the first titan anyone can mount up a force and wreck him, bpos are immune to all damage types because they sit in hangers all day.
And I didnt say the NPC mount HAS to be there..., its just a chance that others might have homed into the wreckage and happen to be there as you got there. This is a mmo it would force people to venture to all parts of space, increasing the PVP factor and the need to make friends/corpmates. Research missions right now are courier missions, why cant any combat be added to something thats gonna have you sitting pretty for the rest of your eve life? For something that will make you BILLIONS upon BILLIONS of isk its FAR to easy right now imho.
